My Story

We are running the Great Manchester Run to raise money for Headway, an amazing charity that helps people and their families cope with living with a brain injury and the complex consequences for both the person suffering the injury and the extended family.

My husband Gary had an accident last year on the 3rd of November, he came off an e-scooter whilst working in Austin Texas.  He had no helmet and consequently sustained a pretty serious brain injury.  5 months on, he is now back in the UK and recovering in the Royal Hospital for Neuro Disability in Putney.

Headway have already been a useful source of information for us and through their free site 'callingaboutchris' we have been able to communicate updates about Gary and collect messages from friends and family to share with him.

We know at some stage we will seek further support and guidance from Headway once Gary is ready to discharge.  We are keen to ensure that we can contribute just a little to Headway as a way to thank them for their help so far and to ensure that they can continue to help other families just like ours.
